We are pleased to announce Matthew J. Klein and Nathaniel L. Nelson have been elected Principals of the firm, effective September 1, 2019. With their election, Olsen Thielen now has 21 Principals and over 86 staff.
Matthew J. Klein
Matt is a Principal in the Tax Department in the Eden Prairie and Roseville offices and has over eight years of experience working primarily with privately-held businesses, including S-Corporations, closely-held corporations, partnerships, and individuals. He graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA). He joined Olsen Thielen in 2017.
In addition to tax compliance and tax planning for businesses and individuals, Matt works with closely-held businesses on entity selection and formation and other start-up related issues; conducts stock option and long-term incentive compensation planning; business succession planning and fiduciary income tax; wealth transfer planning; mergers and acquisition; business restructuring; and state tax matters.
Matt and his wife, Stephanie, live in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and currently have one active son, Sawyer, with another boy on the way in October. Outside of work, Matt stays busy playing golf and spending time with his family at their lake home.
Nathaniel L. Nelson
Nate is a Principal in the Tax Department of the Roseville office and has over 9 years of experience working with small businesses, partnerships, individuals, agriculture and trusts and estates. He graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA). Nate joined Olsen Thielen in 2010.
In addition to tax experience with C and S corporations, partnerships and individuals, Nate advises on corporate, partnership and individual tax planning; business structuring; ownership succession; generational transfers and retirement planning.
Nate and his wife, Chasity, live in Blaine, Minnesota. Outside of work, Nate keeps busy spending time with his wife and raising two daughters — Paityn and Harper. He also enjoys a good book, traveling, games, golfing, watching college basketball and being with friends and family.
